October 2007 - Cookie has been with us
on foster for nearly a month and will be featured in Your Dog Magazine and a new training
book entitled 100 Ways to Train a Wonderful Dog. She is quite a model and plays to the
camera. Cookie can get over the top and still needs lots of training. She has mixed with other dogs and has not shown any hint of reactive behaviour but does get a little carried away which annoys the older dogs! When they tell her off, she frantically licks their mouths which frankly drives them insane but if they continue to tell her off she does finally leave them alone. She isn't rough when she plays with them and she thoroughly enjoys a good romp with my lurcher although speed is definitely not her forte. Cookie has been crate trained. She is almost house trained and sleeps in a large pen in our house to ensure that she doesn't bug the older dogs at night. She settles straight away and only cries when she needs to go out into the garden. Cookie is a typical Bull breed. She is boisterous, enthusiastic, out going, loving and incredibly intelligent. She is learning to target, knows the commands 'sit', 'leave' and 'off'. Cookie has been to the park and also to the pub where she gained many fans. She was fantastic, greeting unknown dogs, children and adults. She retained her focus and behaved impeccably showing off her training to all who watched. When Cookie gets over excited she will still grab clothing but she can now be re-directed onto a more appropriate toy! She needs a place such as a crate for time out to help her settle if she is over-tired. Cookie needs someone who will continue to train her, give her plenty of walks and appropriate stimulation and who loves the boisterous personality of the Bull breeds. She is a lovely dog who loves to learn. She cannot be rehomed to a family with young children. |
